mind you. . written earlier today during Hist 345 class (immigrant experience).
so yes, sometimes i wonder. actually all the time. such and such-i wonder. I know it shouldn't bug me, but did they say something bad about me when i walked by? who's place is it to cast judgement on another persom. i admit i too am guilty of what you can call "talking shit." why do we do that? under what context do we deteremine what is normal. is difference really a bad thing? inherently, no. constructively, yes. is it truly up to us to determine what a person's lifestlye should be? i suppose that that is where our psychological tendencies kick in to categorize and interpret our experiences. it's easier for us (humans) to comphend. the point of philosophy is to think critically to be open & engage in the ability to change your opinion. i suppose that that is where hypocracy intercepts.
to be honest, i don't know where my standpoint is. perhaps my fear of confrontation [which i am confronting] forces me into comformity. it's hard to formulate my opinion or to actually take a firm stance on something because it [constantly] evolves. [the world changes]
this is how i feel. native americans-people who later became catergorized as Native Americans because according to people from a country called "europe" more specifically "england" were what is called "indigenous"-non-conformists practicing an incorrect way of life. because of an ethnocentric lifestyle these people from a country called "europe" coerced, tricked, what ever you want to call it, decimated even, these "indigenous" people to assimilate - conform to a lifestlye which they "europeans" have created to converge old practices with new independent ones. thus allowing the "europeans" to establish dominance. Because of this, "americans" today, people on this land valus American as "white." [think about it] SO, if this land was "discovered" by people termed "africans" their virtues would be ideal. Because "europeans" created an identity of America, white and protestant, we today [place immense] values [on] these.
NEW NEW NEW KNEW KNEW KNEW KNOW KNOW KNOW
went to a speaker session today. old retired white people. who usually are republican. discussed immigration laws, more specifically mexican-u.s. border. it's pretty dumb if you ask me. questions to consider: isn't is awkward that mexicans are crossing borders to get back onto their land? isn't it more beneficial to america to allow these immigrants in? why are there limitations? i suppose i understand, but i'm still wary of it all. again no definite answers.
so yes, bush is simply trying to earn the latino vote since he realized its importance when the florida incident occured. bah! beef stoo!!! a possibility of a 3 year visa, renewable only once for a total of a 6 year stay in the U.S. as long as they (immigrants) are sponsored by a U.S. employer. gained the ability to bring dependents. can apply for a green card, increased number of green cards, but still with the possibility of deporation after 6 years. sound great??? hmmm.
